United Nations General Assembly in NYC

#image_title

Every September, New York City transforms into a stage for international diplomacy as heads of state and foreign ministers gather for the annual United Nations (“UN”) General Assembly.

For decades, the General Assembly has served as a forum for nations to engage in dialogue, build cooperation, and work towards common aspirations. This year marks the 80th session of the General Assembly under the theme “Better Together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights.” Over the coming weeks, representatives from the UN’s 193 member states will meet to exchange ideas and reaffirm their commitments to peace, progress, and human rights. Among the topics expected to receive particular attention this year are AI governance, gender equality, mental health, and sustainable development.

More than just a diplomatic summit, the General Assembly reaffirms New York’s unique identity as a city where the world comes together.

The iconic UN headquarters on the East River is a must-see landmark for visitors to New York. At Junior Tours, many of our NYC tour packages include opportunities to pass by the building or even step inside for a guided visit of the General Assembly Hall and the Security Council Chamber.
